RTÉ crime drama KIN to reach bigger audience on Netflix

The hit RTÉ crime drama KIN is set to reach an even bigger audience having been snapped up by streaming giant Netflix.

The first season of the highly-praised show is set to debut on Netflix in the UK and Ireland on 1 May.

KIN follows the lives of the Kinsellas, a fictional Dublin family embroiled in a gangland war with an international cartel. Out-numbered, out-financed and out-gunned, the Kinsellas find themselves holed up in their Dublin stronghold while their businesses fail and family members and associates are picked off.

Season one of the acclaimed series, which features an ensemble cast including Ciarán Hinds, Clare Dunne, Emmett J. Scanlan and Charlie Cox, aired on RTÉ in 2021, while the second season followed in 2023.

Both series of KIN have since aired in a prime-time slot on BBC One.

Written and created by Peter McKenna and co-created by Ciarán Donnelly, KIN is produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures, in association with RTÉ, with support from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.

The third run of the hugely popular show was put on hold after BRON Studios went bankrupt.

In December last year, KIN star Emmett J Scanlan told RTÉ Entertainment that there have been “positive rumblings” for a third season.

KIN is currently available on RTÉ Player.
