Leo Varadkar is set to step down as Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader.

The Cabinet has been meeting in Government Buildings in advance of the announcement.

This morning there had been intense speculation about the Taoiseach’s future.

Government parties say that they don’t expect today’s announcement to trigger a general election.

The press conference will be shown live on the RTÉ News channel and RTÉ 1.
