Leaving Cert Applied student maps out plans

The Leaving Cert exams are looming large, with Wednesday 5 June marked in bold on calendars in homes across the country.

And like many students, James Casserly can’t wait to get them over and done with.

James, aged 18, is a pupil at Adamstown Community College in Dublin, where he has been studying the Leaving Certificate Applied programme.

“I just want to get it (school) done and out of the way. The Leaving Cert, I’ve been working hard for it, but I just want to get it done, it’s been two years of hard work,” he said.

The LCA programme prepares students for adult and working life.

James, who is a wheelchair user, has a clear idea about what he wants to do next.

He started his social media page ‘Jimbo’s Accessible Adventures’ to review destinations around Ireland in terms of accessibility.

“I want to be an accessible consultant for travel agents specialising in accessible holidays. That’s my passion and if you’re passionate about something, it’s easier to do.”
