Girl, 15, dies in two-car collision in Co Tipperary



A 15-year-old girl has died and four other people injured in a two-car collision in Co Tipperary.

The girl, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 6.45pm yesterday on the R503 at Rearcross.

Her body was removed to University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.

Three other people in the car, a man and a woman both aged in their 20s, and a girl aged in her mid-teens, were taken to University Hospital Limerick with non-life threatening injuries.

A woman who was driving the second car was also taken to UHL, where her injuries are also believed to be non-life threatening.

The road is closed for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, and any road users with camera footage (including dashcam) from the area at the time of the crash, is asked to contact Nenagh Garda Station at 067 50450, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

The girl’s death brings to 25 the number of people who have died on Irish roads since the beginning of the year.
