Woman dead, two children seriously injured in collision



A woman has died and two young children are in a serious condition following a collision in Co Kildare this evening.

The woman, 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision between the car she was driving and a van on the R148 at Clondurry near Enfield at around 6.15pm.

The two children, who were passengers in her car, were taken to Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) in Crumlin where their condition has been described as “serious but stable”.

The driver of the van was also taken to hospital where his condition has been described as non-life threatening.

Gardaí have closed the road between Enfield and Kilcock and local diversions are in place.

The road will remain closed overnight, and a forensic examination is set to take place in the morning.

A witness appeal has been made, and anyone with information is asked to contact Leixlip Garda station on 01 666 7800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
