Watch: ‘We have a basis for moving forward’
DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson addressed the media in the early hours of this morning, saying “we have a basis for moving forward” following a deal with the British government to reduce the impact of post-Brexit trade rules.
The deal means the Stormont Executive could potentially be restored within days after a suspension of almost two years.
At a press conference in the early hours of this morning, Mr Donalson said: “This package, I believe, safeguards Northern Ireland’s place in the union and will restore our place within the UK internal market.
“I believe that a clear decision has been made tonight.
“My party has acted decisively tonight, as have our party officers.
“And I believe that in that decision, we have a basis for moving forward, providing and subject to the [UK] government honouring its commitments.”
