Two arrests after cocaine worth €3.1m and cash seized



Gardaí have arrested two men for drug trafficking offences after €3.1m worth of cocaine and €353,000 in cash were seized in Co Dublin and Co Wicklow yesterday.

A man in his 30s is being held in a garda station in the east of the country after the drugs were found in a vehicle search in Co Wicklow.

While another man in his 30s is being held in a Dublin garda station after €213,000 in cash was discovered at a residence in Clondalkin, Co Dublin.

A further €140,000 in cash was seized in later searches.

Gardaí searched 37 locations, including homes, businesses and vehicles, throughout the two counties.

Eight vehicles, estimated to be worth over €200,000, were seized as evidence of money laundering and proceeds of crime. In excess of €280,000 was discovered frozen in bank accounts.

Jewellery, including designer watches, electronic devices, laptops, and smartphones were also seized.

Gardaí were assisted by the Dublin Crime Response Team, the Garda Dog Unit, The Customs Canine Unit and the Armed Support Unit as part of the operation.

Investigations are ongoing.
