Three arrests after man in his 20s shot dead in Dublin

A man in his 20s has died following a shooting in Dublin in the early hours of the morning.

The incident happened at around 12.15am on the Knocknarea Road in the Drimnagh area.

Three men were arrested shortly after the shooting. They are being held in garda stations in Dublin and can be questioned for up to three days.

Detectives believe the murder is connected to serious and organised crime but are trying to establish what happened and why.

The men were wearing bullet-proof vests when arrested, a number of cars were involved in the incident and there appears to have been a car ramming and several shots were fired.

The shooting happened on the Knocknarea Road in the Drimnagh area shortly after midnight

The man’s body remains at the scene pending the arrival of the State Pathologist to conduct a preliminary examination at the scene before being removed for a post-mortem examination.

The Garda Technical Bureau is carrying out a forensic examination.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to the case.
