Thousands of people have turned up outside the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin for the annual Christmas Eve busk to raise money for the Dublin Simon Community.
The music led by musician Glen Hansard began with A Rainy Night in Soho in tribute to the late Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan.
Imelda May joined them, accompanying Seán Mulroney who played his song ‘No Two Sides’ which he has called a clarion call for compassion and peace.
He says he was inspired by the late Sinéad O’Connor to speak about what is happening in Gaza.
The event has become a tradition in the city since it first began just over a decade ago.
Sinéad O’Connor had played it in the past, while Bono is known to appear at it regularly.
Hozier has also sang at the event, while last year, which was the first gig following a break during the Covid-19 pandemic, saw Dermot Kennedy, Imelda May, Róisín O, and Gavin James perform for the festive crowd.
