A teenage girl has been killed in a single-vehicle road crash in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow.
The girl was a passenger in a car which crashed at Slaney Park shortly before 5am this morning.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, and no-one else was seriously injured, gardai said.
The driver of the car, a male in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act and is being detained at a garda station in Wicklow.
The road at Slaney Park is closed with local diversions in place and forensic collision investigators are at the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were travelling in the Slaney Park area between 4.30am and 5am are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

Separately, a man in his 80s is being treated for serious injuries after a crash between a car and tractor in Co Cork last night.
The collision happened at around 8.05pm on the N71 at Durrus Cross in Gortnacloona near Bantry.
The man, who was driving the car, was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries have been reported.
The N71 at Durrus Cross and the R591 approaching the junction were closed as a technical examination of the scene is carried out.
Gardaí are appealing for any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were travelling in the Durrus Cross area between 7.45pm and 8.15pm last night are asked to make this footage available.
