Services resume at Beaumont Hospital ED after fire

Beaumont Hospital’s emergency department has resumed services after a fire earlier today resulted in the suspension of some services.

In a statement the hospital said that an unanticipated incident occurred in the emergency department at around 6.45am which gave rise to a temporary suspension of on-call services as a necessary contingency measure.

The hospital said the incident has been safely managed with services resuming as normal from 10am.

In a statement, Dublin Fire Brigade said it was called at 7am this morning to reports of a fire in the hospital.

It added that on the arrival of firefighters, hospital staff had extinguished a fire and crews in breathing apparatus used positive pressure fans to ventilate the area of smoke.

The incident was concluded by 8am with all Dublin Fire Brigade resources leaving the scene.
