A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of a seven-year-old boy who died after getting into difficulty in a swimming pool at a hotel in Co Clare yesterday afternoon.
The incident occurred at the Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre in Killaloe.
The boy was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he was later pronounced dead.
It is understood he was from Clonlara and was attending a birthday party at the hotel.
Gardaí said emergency services were alerted to the incident shortly before 3pm yesterday.
