PAC set to extend RTÉ examination until end of March

The Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee is set to extend its examination of RTÉ until the end of March.

The move is to facilitate another hearing with the members of RTÉ’s Board and senior executives.

The PAC wants to ask questions regarding the Grant Thornton report on Toy Show The Musical, as well as the forthcoming McCann Fitzgerald report on RTÉ’s voluntary exit schemes which is due to be published within a fortnight.

On Thursday, the committee met and agreed to apply to the Oireachtas Committee on Remit Oversight to seek an extension of the committee’s orders of reference.

It is expected that the PAC will issue its final report on the debacle at the RTÉ “as soon as practicable” after the 31 March deadline.

After the publication of the Grant Thornton report into Toy Show The Musical, the chair of the RTÉ Board Siún Ní Raghallaigh said she would be happy to attend the PAC.
