On patrol with Irish peacekeepers in Lebanon

What’s it like to drive one of the armoured personnel carriers (APC) used by Irish peacekeepers in Lebanon?

RTÉ News reporter Justin McCarthy and camera operator Brian Walsh were given a tour of one of the vehicles at Camp Shamrock, where 332 Irish troops are currently deployed.

Camp Shamrock is situated about 7km from the border with Israel, and is close to towns and villages which are controlled by, or sympathetic to, Hezbollah.

Watch our video to find out what it’s like to be on board a Mowag APC.
