Names of gardaí killed in duty read out at memorial

Members of An Garda Síochána who died in the line of duty are being remembered in Dublin Castle.

Since the force was formed in 1922, 89 gardaí have lost their lives while in service.

Their names were read aloud at the annual memorial in the Dubh Linn Gardens.

Family, friends and colleagues of the deceased were joined by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and Minister for Justice Helen McEntee, who described those honoured today as exemplifying the courage dignity of the force.
