Motorbikes, e-scooters, drugs and cash seized in Dublin

Two people have been arrested and 34 electric motorbikes, e-scooters and scramblers were seized along with three quad bikes and a jet ski during a series of garda searches in Dublin yesterday.

The operation was carried out as part of Operation Meacan, which aims to tackle the use of electric motorbikes being used for criminal activity, including drug dealing, money laundering and moving firearms.

The e-vehicles are used on footpaths, parks and laneways as a way of evading gardaí.

Nineteen teams, including members of the Armed Support Unit and National Dog Unit, searched 40 properties and seized ten Surron electric motorbikes, valued between €4,000 and €10,000; 12 motorbikes and scramblers; 12 electric bicycles and e-scooters and three quad bikes.

A jet-ski and trailer, estimated to be worth around €10,000, was also seized.

Cocaine and cannabis valued at €8,000, five designer watches – including one Tag Heuer and 4 Rolex watches – along with €42,950 and around €25,000 of designer goods were seized.

Two people were arrested over outstanding bench warrants.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
