A Government minister has promised that school places will be made available for children with special and additional needs in west Dublin, but admitted the commitment may not include all services being sought by families.
Minister for Special Education and Inclusion Hildagarde Naughton outlined the situation to the families as they protested in Dublin.
Fifteen parents involved in the Schools for All group came to the gates of Leinster House at 11am to demand improved services for their children.
They said that despite repeated promises, schools in Dublin 15 are being left without appropriate resources.
It means, they added, that their children are being left without adequate support – and sometimes school places – for years.

Responding to the concerns, Minister Naughton promised that places would be made available for their children by September.
However, under questioning from the parents she admitted the commitments may not go far enough.
The protest is one of two special and additional needs issues taking place at Leinster House today.
The second involves teenager Cara Darmody, and her father Mark, who are meeting Taoiseach Simon Harris over their calls for improved school services.
At that meeting, Cara is expected call on Mr Harris to fully implement the assessment of needs legislation, which campaigners say will ensure families are given the supports they require.
