Man who died in Dublin crash was due to stand trial



A man who died in a crash involving a van in south Dublin on Sunday morning had been due to stand trial on more than 100 sexual offences at the Central Criminal Court yesterday morning.

The man, who was in his late 60s, faced 113 counts including charges of indecent assault, sexual assault and rape.

The offences involved five complainants.

However the court was told the man was deceased and the trial would not be going ahead.

The man died in a single vehicle collision at around 6.15am on Churchtown Road Upper in Dundrum on Sunday morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
