Man remains in custody after three women injured in Louth

A man remains in garda custody following an alleged assault on three women in Co Louth yesterday afternoon.

He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí responded to the alleged assault at a house in the Glenwood Estate in Dundalk and arrested the man.

It is understood that an elderly women sustained head injuries in the attack.

She was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where her condition has been described as serious.

The two other women were taken to nearby Louth County Hospital in Dundalk for treatment.
