Man due in court charged in connection with Dublin riots

A man in his 60s is due to appear in court this evening charged in connection with the riots in Dublin last November.

The man was one of eleven people arrested at protests in the city centre yesterday.

He was questioned at a Dublin Garda station and detained overnight.

He is suspected of committing a number of offences including an arson attack on a Luas tram which was one of a number of vehicles burned out that night.

He is due before the late sitting of the Dublin District Court this evening.

Thirty-nine people have been arrested in connection with the riots, 26 of whom have appeared in court.

The Dublin riots were described in court last week as one of the most serious and largest scenes of public disorder in the history of the state.
