Man dies in road crash on M7 near Kildare



A man in his 20s has died following a collision on the M7 at Curraghfarm near Kildare, yesterday evening.

The crash occurred at around 8.45pm, when a car hit a raised grass bank between junctions 12 and 13.

The man, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a man also aged in his 20s, was taken to Tallaght University Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

Two other men in the car, both in their 20s, did not need hospital treatment.

No other vehicles were involved.

The M7 westbound remains closed between J12 (Newbridge) and J13 (Kildare) for a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to contact Kildare Garda Station 045 527730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
