Detective Sergeant Tom Burke gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

The accused was arrested on 14 March in Tralee on suspicion of rape and charged at 6am today.

His solicitor Pat Mann said there would be no bail application.

Judge Colm Roberts noted there could be no application in the district court for bail given the nature of some of the charges.

The accused was remanded in custody to appear via video link at Tralee District Court on Wednesday 20 March.

On request from Mr Mann, Judge Roberts ordered the accused to receive all relevant medical attention and medication.

Legal aid was granted. The man cannot be identified for legal reasons.
