A 38-year-old Irish man died in a road crash in the Canadian province of Alberta on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed that his next of kin have been notified.
The man, who was originally from Co Limerick, had lived in Canada for over a decade.
A police spokesperson confirmed that the incident took place in the municipal district of Ranchland.
They confirmed that contact had been made with both the Irish Embassy in Ottowa and with gardaí in Roxboro Road Garda Station in Limerick City.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
