The BAFTA Film Awards are taking place in London’s Royal Festival Hall, with Poor Things, made by the Dublin-based Element Pictures, and Earth Mama, which includes Irish filmmakers Shirley O’Connor and Medb Riordan among its producers, some of the early winners.
It’s a big night for Irish talent, with Barry Keoghan and Cillian Murphy also among the nominees.
All of Us Strangers‘ Paul Mescal lost out in the Best Supporting Actor category to the favourite, Oppenheimer‘s Robert Downey Jr.
Another favourite, The Holdovers‘ Da’Vine Joy Randolph, won Best Supporting Actress.
