Irish couple killed after being struck by car in Kent

British police have appealed for witnesses after an Irish couple, understood to be originally from Cork, were killed when they were struck by a car while walking their dog in a village in Kent yesterday.
The couple were walking along Thurnham Lane in Bearsted near Maidstone, when they were struck by a car shortly after 1.30pm.
The couple, who were in their 60s, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Their dog was also killed.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs said the department is aware of the incident and will provide consular assistance if required.
