Firefighters extinguish blaze at vacant Dublin building


Firefighters from Dublin Fire Brigade extinguished a fire at an unoccupied building in Co Dublin overnight.

The blaze broke out at the premises on Thorncastle Street in Ringsend shortly before 2am.

Six fire engines attended the scene, including a turntable ladder in order to fight the blaze from above.

The fire was successfully brought under control by the crews at the scene.

No injuries have been reported following the incident.

The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination and enquiries are ongoing, gardaí said.

Green Party councillor Claire Byrne said on X that the fire was “unbelievably sad to see”.

She added: “The building was to be used by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive as a family hub.”
