€611k worth of drugs seized in separate operations

Over €611,000 worth of cannabis was seized over three separate Revenue operations this week.

The operations were carried out in Dublin, Athlone, and Shannon.

Yesterday 14.2kg of the drug, worth almost €285,000, was found in parcels at a premises in Dublin.

The parcels had arrived in Ireland from Thailand and were addressed to a number of areas around Dublin.

11.8kgs worth an estimated €236,000 was also found in Athlone yesterday with the help of Revenue’s detector dog Bailey.

Those batches had been sent from France and Spain, and were destined for addresses in Dublin and Galway.

A further €90,000 worth of cannabis that had been sent from the US was also seized at Shannon Airport earlier in the week.

A Revenue spokesperson said that its investigations are ongoing.
