A French diver slipped and fell into the water as athletes performed in the inauguration ceremony of an Olympic aquatics centre north of Paris yesterday.
Olympic diver Alexis Jandard, 26, slipped on a board as he was about to plunge into the water alongside two other divers at the event, attended by President Emmanuel Macron.
Mr Jandard, who represented France in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, fell on his back and hit the board before falling into the water.
In a reply post to the video of his fall posted on X social media platform, he said: “Thanks for the support! For your information, my back is fine, but my ego…”
