Cybersecurity experts gather for Dublin convention

Cybersecurity experts will gather in Dublin for ‘Zero Day Con’ an annual convention focussed on tackling the latest online threats.

Hundreds of delegates will hear from speakers in the fields of industry, law enforcement, medicine and education.

Among those taking part will be experts from the US Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and the National Cyber Security Centre.

The conference theme is ‘evolve’ to reflect how the cyber environment is constantly changing particularly when it comes to the ever-increasing number and type of threats facing organisations at all levels.

Ken Sheehan, Operations Manager at cybersecurity firm Smarttech247, said international agencies and businesses have a new understanding of the need for cooperation in the fight against online crime.

“The best example of this was seen at the recent Munich Security Conference, where 15 of the biggest names in tech signed up to an agreement to fight deceptive AI content targeting dozens of elections scheduled to take place around the world in 2024,” Mr Sheehan said.

“These are largely voluntary codes, but they represent a shift in approach and tactics when it comes to addressing the cybercrime threat and are a step in the right direction,” he added.
