Campaigners for George Nkencho, who was shot dead by an armed garda outside his home in Clonee, Co Dublin three-and-a-half years ago, have gathered outside the Department of Justice.
The campaigners are calling for last week’s decision by the DPP to be overturned.
Today’s gathering has been organised by Ruth Coppinger from the Socialist Party.
She told the demonstration that the DPP’s decision was “totally unacceptable” and she said justice delayed is justice denied.
Liam Herrick, from the Irish Council for Civil Liberties said the Nkencho family is entitled to know how George died and the circumstances around it.
Mr Herrick also said it was a human rights case and that the State has an obligation to carry out an effective and independent investigation into his death.
The Nkencho family have previously said they will be appealing the DPP’s decision.
George’s mother, Blessing, also attended this evening’s event.
