Bambie Thug hospitalised after eating ‘bad shellfish’

Ireland’s Eurovision hopeful Bambie Thug had to cancel a meet and greet performance in Malmö, Sweden, after coming down with food poisoning.

The 31-year-old from Macroom in Cork had an event scheduled with the independent Eurovision blog and YouTube channel Wiwibloggs on Saturday, but was forced to cancel after being admitted to hospital late last night.

On Saturday afternoon, Bambie Thug said they were “really sorry” but hoped to recover before next week’s performances.

Bambie is due to perform their song Doomsday Blue in the first of the two Eurovision semi-finals on Tuesday 7 May.

Posting on their Instagram Story, they wrote: “I had to go to hospital late last night and be put on a drip because I ate some bad shellfish.

“I need to take the day to try and recover so I can smash my performances next week.”

They added: “I promise I’ll make it up to you.”

Bambie Thug has since left hospital and is resting in their hotel now.
