Weather warnings in place as Storm Gerrit hits Ireland



A Status Orange rainfall warning is in place for Kerry and west Cork.

Met Éireann has warned of very heavy rain overnight, followed by intense heavy showers today with localised flooding possible.

The warning is in place until midnight on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a Status Orange wind warning is in place for Clare and Galway, with strong to gale force westerly winds forecast. Coupled with spring tides, coastal flooding is likely.

The warning is in place until 6am on Thursday.

A Status Yellow rain warning is in place for the entire country until midnight on Thursday.

Heavy rain overnight, followed by heavy showers today may lead to localised flooding.

Strong southerly winds overnight, veering southwesterly tomorrow, in conjunction with spring tides, may lead to coastal flooding, Met Éireann has said.

Meanwhile, a Yellow wind warning has been issued by the UK’s Met Office for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry

Wet and windy weather over night into this morning is likely to cause some disruption.

This warning is valid until 10am.
