Vigil to be held for homeless woman found dead in Dublin

A vigil will take place tonight in Dublin city centre for a homeless woman who was found dead yesterday morning.

The woman – understood to be 47 years of age – has been named locally as Ann Delaney, originally from Co Laois.

She was found unresponsive outside a supermarket on Aungier Street on Sunday morning.

A spokesman for the homeless charity Liberty Soup Run said Ann was well loved by many people, and that tonight’s gathering will be held to remember her with music and poetry.

She was described by the charity as a “great character” who loved music and Liverpool football club.

The spokesman said she had a great family who loved and cared for her and that she had fallen on hard times, ending up on the streets.

Tonight’s vigil will take place at 8pm.

In a statement, gardaí said they are conducting enquiries into her death.
