Two arrests over death of man in Macroom last week
A man and a woman, aged in their 30s, have been arrested for questioning about the murder of Michael Foley in Macroom, Co Cork, last week.
They were arrested in Cork City this afternoon and are being detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
Mr Foley’s body was discovered on Tuesday 6 February at his home at Annville, a small sheltered housing complex on Barrett’s Place, near Macroom town centre.
The 61-year-old, a separated father of four, was originally from Clonakilty in west Cork.
Preliminary results of a post-mortem examination on Mr Foley’s body have not been released, but it is understood that they confirm injuries consistent with an assault.
