TikTok and Mary Robinson team up for climate campaign

Video-sharing platform TikTok and former President of Ireland Mary Robinson have joined forces to launch a new climate initiative.

The Youth Climate Leaders Alliance is an educational programme aimed at 18-30-year-olds.

It will run from 1 May until the end of the year and will include an 8-month climate leadership workshop series, held at the Mary Robinson Centre.

The programme is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools they will need to make a real difference in tackling climate change.

It includes a climate literacy and leadership programme for secondary schools, along with digital learning resources.

At the end of the programme a bursary opportunity will be awarded to five participants to continue their climate action initiatives.

“The Mary Robinson Centre’s partnership with TikTok to deliver the TikTok Youth Climate Leaders Alliance is an exciting development,” Mrs Robinson said.

“It has the potential to deliver real impact, empowering a new generation and building a movement of young people equipped to address some of the global challenges ahead, and to drive significant change. I look forward to seeing their achievements in time,” she added.

Elaine Fox of TikTok Ireland said it was an honour to join forces with Mrs Robinson.

“Through this partnership, we are proud to offer the climate leaders of tomorrow the resources and support to empower them to make a significant impact,” Ms Fox said.
