Three people have appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found in a house in east Belfast last week.

Kathryn Parton, 34, was found dead in a house in Madrid Street last Wednesday.

Police found her body with serious head injuries in a bedroom after receiving a report of a death.

Appearing at Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning, 23-year-old Jamie Love from Madrid Street was charged with murder, aggravated by domestic abuse.

His mother Suzanne Love, 43, from Isoline Street, faces three charges, including attempting to pervert the course of justice by destroying evidence, as well as aiding an abetting a breach of bail.

Reece Oliver, 22, from Castletown Avenue in Belfast, is charged with assisting an offender and aiding and abetting a breach of bail.

Each of the defendants spoke only to confirm that they understood the charges against them.

A PSNI detective inspector told the court that while it had not yet been possible to establish precisely when Ms Parton had been killed, she was last seen alive on Thursday 9 May in the company of Jamie Love, who was her partner.

She said an eyewitness saw the three defendants together at the house in Madrid Street on the day she was last seen.

The officer said police went to the victim’s house last week after her father had phoned emergency services and told them he believed his daughter had been had badly injured and that she was not breathing and was cold.

Officers found the victim lying on the floor beside her bed covered in blood and with serious head injuries.

A solicitor for Suzanne Love told the court that the last time she saw Ms Parton on 9 May she was injured and crying but was alive.

The three were remanded in custody to appear in court again on 17 June.

A man was arrested as a number of people in the public gallery were removed from the court after shouting abuse and threats as the defendants were laid from the dock.
