The 24th national Student Media Awards are under way in the Mansion House in Dublin tonight.
The annual event celebrates the achievements of students in media-related fields in colleges and universities around the country.
Fourth year student Joe Drennan, who was killed when he was hit by a car while standing at a bus stop in Limerick last year, was remembered tonight.
The 21-year-old had been the editor-in-chief of Limerick Voice when he died.
There was a standing ovation as a tribute was made to him, followed by an announcement that there will be an award named after him next year.
