Search under way for person missing off coast of Galway

A rescue operation is under way after a person entered the water from a boat off the coast of Co Galway.
The operation is being led by the Irish Coast Guard in conjunction with gardaí.
Gardaí said the person, understood to be a man, entered the water off the coast near Carna this evening.
A garda spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6.15pm this evening, gardaí and the Irish Coast Guard responded to reports of a person, understood to be a man, entering the water from a boat off the coast of Carna, Co. Galway.
“An Irish Coast Guard led operation is currently under way.”
