Post-mortem due after shooting incident in Dublin

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of a man who was killed on Christmas Eve during a gun attack at a restaurant in west Dublin.

The man, who was in his 20s, was killed and a second man was seriously injured in the gang-related attack, which took place at Browne’s Steakhouse on Main Street in Blanchardstown on Sunday evening.

A father and son who were in the restaurant and who are known to gardaí are believed to have been the targets of the gunman who fired several shots.

A man in his 40s was shot and seriously injured and is being treated at Connolly Hospital.

The suspected gunman sustained fatal stab wounds during the incident.

Gardaí in Blanchardstown are investigating the shooting, which they believe is linked to an ongoing feud between organised crime gangs.

Garda patrols in the area have been stepped up with support from armed units and people have been asked not to share footage of the attack on social media.
