Post-mortem due after man, 61, found dead in Cork

A post-mortem examination will be conducted on the body of a 61-year old man who was found dead at his home at Macroom in Co Cork yesterday afternoon.

The man has been named as Michael Foley, a father of four, who was originally from Clonakilty in west Cork.

His body was discovered at his home at Annville, a small sheltered housing complex at Barrett’s Place, near Macroom town centre.

A technical and forensic examination will continue there today.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster carried out an examination of the scene last night, before Mr Foley’s body was removed to Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí say the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation, although it is known that marks observed on Mr Foley’s body are of concern.
