A pedestrian in his 30s has died after being hit by a car in Co Clare in the early hours of this morning.
The incident happened on the N18 at Portdrine at around 4am.
The man was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he later died.
The road is closed for a forensic collision investigation and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward and asked anyone with dash-cam footage travelling in the area at the time of the incident to share the footage with them.
The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.
