Murder investigation launched after death of man in city



A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally assaulted in the Finglas area of north Dublin at the weekend.

Mark Carroll, aged 34, was discovered with serious injuries at a house in the Scribblestown area of Finglas in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, where he was later pronounced dead.

It is understood he had been stabbed.

Mr Carroll was from the Finglas area and had been a visitor at the house where the fatal assault happened.

A post-mortem examination was carried out and gardaí have said the results will not be released for operational reasons.
