Mullooly to join Renew group in European Parliament
Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly has said he has accepted an invitation to join the Renew group in the European Parliament, following the endorsement of a key figure within the liberal grouping.
Sandro Gozi, a French MEP who is close to French President Emmanuel Macron, wrote to the leaders of Renew recommending Mr Mullooly’s membership.
The move see the Midlands-North-West MEP join Fianna Fáil’s four MEPs, who are also members of Renew.
In a post on X this morning, Mr Mullooly said he had accepted Mr Gozi’s invitation to join the Renew Group as he believed it “best fits the needs” of his constituents.

Mr Gozi had said that Mr Mullooly’s “commitment to promoting democracy, social justice, and a more cohesive and progressive Europe makes him a valuable addition to our team.
