Man in court over fire at building in Tallaght



An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a fire at a building in Tallaght in Dublin last week which was earmarked for international protection applicants.

Andy Donohue, with an address at Citywest View, Tallaght, was charged with criminal damage of St John’s House on High Street in Tallaght on Tuesday 21 May.

Garda Eoin Monaghan said Mr Donohue was arrested and charged with criminal damage of the building at Tallaght Garda Station yesterday.

He said Mr Donohue made no reply when charged after caution.

He appeared before Tallaght District Court where gardaí objected to bail because of the seriousness of the charge and the possibility of further charges.

Judge Patricia McNamara refused to grant bail and remanded Mr Donohue in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Cout on Friday by videolink.
