Man held as pedestrian critical after Donegal hit-and-run



A man in his 30s has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident in Co Donegal in the early hours of yesterday morning, in which a man in his 60s was left in a critical condition.

The incident happened at around 12.15am on Main Street in Clonmany.

The man in his 60s, a pedestrian, was struck by a vehicle which failed to remain at the scene.

He was initially brought to Letterkenny University Hospital, and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where gardaí say he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident was later identified by gardaí and arrested.

He remains detained this morning at a garda station in Donegal.

Gardaí have said that the road, which had closed for a technical examination, has since reopened.
