Man being questioned in connection with Tipperary death

Gardaí are continuing to question a man in his 20s in connection with the death of a man, whose body was found in a rural house in Co Tipperary.

The man who died has been named locally as 32-year-old Maciej Nowak. He lived in the house which is located near the village of Kilross.

Mr Nowak’s body was found in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The man being questioned was arrested by gardaí yesterday.

His arrest was made following a post-mortem examination on Mr Nowak’s body which concluded last night.

Gardaí did not give details of the results of the examination, but said that it would determine how their investigation would proceed.

The arrest also took place after an intensive technical examination of the house which extended over the past two days, and remains sealed off.

It is understood that there had been a birthday party at the house on St Stephen’s night and a number of people had gathered there in the hours before the discovery of the man’s body.

The arrested man is being questioned at a garda station in the Munster region and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
