Make-up artist wants talent seen over disability

Claudia Scanlon was born with a severe form of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a condition that causes the skin to blister easily. She says her disability is the first thing people notice about her, but she just wants people “to see me, for me.”

Claudia’s passion is make-up. After being told she was not able to do so many things growing up, finding something she not only enjoyed “but I was good at and capable to do” made her really happy.

She is now a qualified make-up artist after completing a course at Blackrock Further Education Institute.

“I’m beyond proud of what I’ve done, to say I’m here, I’m qualified, I got through college, I did what I came to do,” she said. “Life is challenging, it has always been challenging, things are thrown in my path constantly but I try my best to succeed in everything I do.”

Claudia hopes that people can see her talent above all else and in our video she shares her hopes and dreams for the year ahead.
