Jack Chambers announced as Fianna Fáil deputy leader



Dublin West TD Jack Chambers has been appointed as deputy leader of Fianna Fáil.

Tánaiste and party leader Micheál Martin said the Minister of State would play a crucial role as Fianna Fáil prepares for the general election.

He said that Mr Chambers’ commitment and organisational skills in his recent role as director of elections were impressive.

The position had been vacant since 2020 when Dara Calleary resigned as the party’s deputy leader over his attendance at a golf society dinner during the pandemic.

Separately, Mr Martin also said that he would announce the Government’s nomination for the EU Commissioner post next week.

The Fianna Fáil leader added he would consult with people on this issue in the coming days.
