Irish man dies while swimming off spanish coast



An Irish man has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in the sea in the southeast of Spain. The incident happened yesterday evening.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is aware of the case.

A spokesperson for the Department said it is providing consular assistance.

Local media reports say the man was in his 70s.

According to the English language news site, The Leader, emergency services were alerted at 5pm yesterday that a swimmer had been pulled out of the water unconscious at Cala Capitán.
