Investigation into death of woman in Cork city



Gardaí in Cork are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at her home in the city earlier today.

The woman is believed to have been aged in her 50s. Her body remains at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the house on the Old Youghal Road, following the discovery of the woman’s body.

The scene was sealed off and gardaí will conduct a technical examination there.

The Chief State Pathologist, Professor Linda Mulligan, is due to conduct a preliminary examination at the scene later this evening.

Afterwards, the woman’s body will be taken to Cork University Hospital. Prof Mulligan will conduct a post mortem examination there tomorrow.

Gardaí say the results of the post mortem examination will determine the course of their investigation.
